Cleaning

Cleaning the roof surface of all loose substrates is very important. Pressure wash at 3000psi.

02

Lightweight Cementitious Acrylic

Eka-Coat Hydro-Shield LCA (Lightweight Cementitious Acrylic) at 1.2mm thickness provides excellent Waterproofing on concrete surfaces.

03

UV Resistant Top Coat

Aliphatic Polyurethane or Pure Acrylic Coats or Silicone Roof Coat must be applied to protect the surface from UV exposure.

04

Polyurea Systems

If the clients want a quick solution, Polyurea Systems are the best – both Hot and Cold Applied.

05

Water Ponding

If there is a chance of ponding, make sure Hydro-Shield PU Floor Coat is applied as a top coat.

06

Bitumen

This material should never be on a roof, as it traps moisture under the membrane. If you cannot get rid of it, always apply Hydro-Shield Anti-bleed Primer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What's the ideal thickness of Lightweight Cementitious Acrylic Membrane?

LCA is best applied at a minimum Dry Film Thickness of 1.2mm to waterproof flat concrete surfaces. This is potable water certified system used in water tanks; if it is good for water tanks, it is great for concrete roofs as well.

  • At 1.2mm DFT, it is 10 sqm per kit. Make sure you don't allow the first coat to dry completely before you apply the subsequent coats. A good contractor/ applicator is always willing to take technical advise from the manufacturer.

  • The best solution will be to install a light-weight screed and then install the LCA plus PU Floor/Top Coat system. If you are trying to save money, avoid the screed. LCA + PU system can withstand ponding. That is definitely not the case with Acrylic coats (even if they have ceramic and glass bubbles).

  • A self-leveling PU sealant is the best. How to make it work? If you follow the right methodology - expansion joints are the easiest to seal and waterproof.
